To mark World Day of Caring, Peli BioThermal team members across the globe were out helping make a difference in their communities.
In Leighton Buzzard, staff volunteered at the Leighton Linslade Homeless Service. Colleagues collected food donations and delivered them to the charity, then they helped prepare and bag donations for those in need. According to Rosemary George, “What a difference a day can make when we have visiting volunteers preparing food parcels to help with the Leighton Linslade Community Foodbank. An increase in referrals for food parcels, from many areas of the local community, began during the pandemic and has continued because of the cost-of-living crisis being faced by many people.”
The Leighton Buzzard team also participated in a litter pick in coordination with the town council. Teams tidied up local parks and green spaces located near their offices.
The Albuquerque office supported the Feed NM Kids Initiative, an organization on a mission to end child hunger in New Mexico. The organization provides children in need with snackable food items donated by companies and individuals in the area. Albuquerque staff made donations that were then packed in gallon-sized bags, which included non-perishable, easy-open food items. Over 320 packs were completed and distributed to Albuquerque Public Schools where teachers and principals distribute to children who need healthy and nutritious food over the weekends.
Additionally, several Peli BioThermal and Pelican Products locations globally hosted blood drives during the month of June.
